WELCOME TO DARAT AL FUNUN

Darat al Funun is a home for the arts and artists from the Arab world, located just a few minutes from downtown Amman's King Faisal Street, and from Jabal al Weibdeh's Paris Circle.

We organize exhibitions, experimental projects at The Lab, talks, films, and workshops, offer a PhD fellowship and artist residencies, publish books, and open our library and archives for research.

Our art spaces are housed in six historic buildings from the 1920s, alongside an archaeological site in the gardens, creating a unique encounter between art, architecture, and archaeology.

MOTOR CYCLE AND CAR RALLIES

Jordan Rally

The Jordan Rally is much more than a sporting event, it is our way of communicating to the world that despite what may be happening around us, Jordan continues to be a rock of stability and a haven of safety and security.

We are proud of what this event has achieved over the years and despite us no longer being a part of the FIA World Rally Championship, we continue to organise the regional event to the very highest levels possible.

We pride ourselves on organising one of the most compact and centralised rallies in the world with everything located within a stone's throw of our Dead Sea HQ.

JORDAN RIDERS RALLY - MOTOCYCLES

The Jordan Riders Rally, held in April under the patronage of HRH Prince Faisal bin Hussein, is an annual event organised by the Jordan Riders group and the Royal Motorcycle Club of Jordan (RMCJ) and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) and the Jordan Tourism Board. The USAID Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism Project (BEST) also supported the 2017 edition and Telecoms company Zain Jordan was the event's strategic partner.

The participants included 500 riders from Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, UAE and Egypt, in addition to local and international contingents.

Interest in the rally has steadily increased over the four years since it was launched, particularly from Gulf countries. The number of women who take part has also grown.

The riders explored the central areas of Jordan, travelling on the airport road, past Jiza and along the scenic backroads of the Madaba governorate to Um Ar-Rassas and then returning via Al Hidan and Mount Nebo. The day ended with an evening ride to the Citadel. On Saturday the riders went north, passing a number of scenic areas, including Jarash, King Talal Dam and Dibeen, returning through Um Rummana. The rally concluded with a closing ceremony and a performance by popular Jordanian singer Omar Al Abdallat.

According to Rally Director, Mustafa Shaaban, "Participation this year was the highest it's been yet and the Jordan Riders Group coordinated with all relevant entities to ensure that the riders had a safe and enjoyable experience."

No doubt the participants are already looking forward to the 2018 edition of the Jordan Riders Rally.
